3 Tips for reaching your fitness goals

1.    Track your activity, food, and your progress.

By keeping track of these three things, you’ll be able to get a clear picture of what routine is yielding the results you want. Seeing your activity week over week can help you decide where you need to start pushing yourself further; simply writing down your workout for the day can help you commit to actually completing what you set out to do. And nothing helps you eat clean like having to log everything you eat throughout the day. However, as far as activity tracking goes, tracking your progress can be the most impactful. Day after day, it’s hard to see the progress you’ve made, but if you continue to track, you’ll be able to see long term progression. Sometimes a little progress can be all the motivation you need.

2.   Write down your goal.

We stole this tip from the owner of M43 Fitness, Scott Abramouski.

I truly believe the single best thing you can do is physically write down your goals on paper. Not just daily goals, but ones that scare you. M43 Fitness was something that was written down 7 years ago. Today, it is not getting crossed off but circled, as this is just the beginning!

No matter the goal, write it down and keep it somewhere you’ll see it every day. A goal is a commitment you make to yourself. Face the challenge and make it happen!

3.    Create an environment of accountability.

Even the most motivated individual can face moments of low motivation. This is why it’s important to create a support system and accountability—essentially laying the foundation for your fitness success. One of the simplest ways to start this is to find a friend or family member who has similar goals. Find someone who will motivate you and push you to be your best—someone who will definitely give you a hard time if you stand them up at the gym. Sometimes even sharing your fitness journey can create accountability. For example, if you share a picture of your healthy dinner every day on instagram, you’ve set that expectation for yourself and your followers (even if it’s just a few friends, family, or even strangers).
